Huh?!

Oops I Did It Again:
The Original

“Oops! I Did It Again” was recorded in April, 1932 in a Chicago studio, most likely Nearlie’s or West and Forth. Cut for the Decca label by Louis Armstrong and elements of Zilner Randolph’s touring group, “Oops!” failed to make the chart impact of “All of Me,” another side recorded in the same session, and soon fell out of print.

The song remained all-but-forgotten until sixty years later when a young Britney Spears sent her interpretation of the Armstrong tune all the way to the top of the charts.

Found this on Ebay… I gues it’s always important to read the fine print…

Let’s see here…

Well, I think this is the 4th blog that I’ve started in my lifetime.  It seems that I start one with each new stage in my life.  Again, I’ve entered into a new stage, so it seems appropriate that I would start another one now…

Interestingly, my idea to start a blog occurred when I stumbled upon this website which, in hindsight, is pretty hilarious.

As for this new life stage… it’s a doozie.  I recently finished my master’s in Clinical Psychology. I’ve quit my position at the local psychiatric hospital in order to take a master’s level therapist position. I’m recently engaged to this guy whom I love very much (he’s the little one):

AND I am starting the journey toward obtaining a PhD in psychology.  It’s a lot to digest.  I’m attempting to take it all one day and one step at a time, but it can be difficult.

My last day in the psych hospital was this past Friday.  I’m taking a week off for no particular reason.  I’ve only been working part time for the past month or so and have started to go a little stir-crazy, so I think by next week I’ll be THRILLED to get back to work!

My new position title is Child Welfare Therapist.  Contrary to what you may expect from the title, I don’t work with welfare.  I’ll be working with children and families who have recently caught child services and/or juvenile probation cases.  I guess my role will be to work with the the family to try to do some problem-solving to reunite the families.  Oh, and this is a home-based position, so I’ll be trying to accomplish all of this in the comfort of their own home… should be an adventure!

Also, in my free time I’ve started a fine relationship with yoga.  Through Groupon I have signed up for yoga classes at 3 different locations (as well as a boot camp, but that will be a tale for another time).  For my first classes, I strangely lied to the people and told them I was probably at an intermediate level (though I had not taken a class in my life).  Why I did this, I have no idea… Anyway, I immediately scheduled an emergency meeting with K Davis, my wonderful friend and yoga instructor.  She taught me some of the basics, and I’ve been in love ever since!

Hot yoga was a very interesting experience… 1 hour, 45 minutes of yoga in a 90+ degree room with 15 other people.  I’ve never dripped sweat like that in my life.  It was awesome.  As a result, I’ve had some trouble moving the past couple of days… but I’m hoping to get to another class tomorrow.

Now, a couple of years ago, I had really gotten into mindfulness meditation… it was something that was undoubtedly beneficial in my life and for stress management. With school and all, I had fallen out of practice.  I was thrilled to discover how much of the yoga practice incorporates meditation!  Naturally, I immediately had to find a book that would educate me on the philosophy behind the practice of yoga so that I could incorporate it…. I found this:

And I’m hoping it’s going to be wonderful!

Well, I’ve successfully wasted most of the day, so this will be all for now… we’ll see if I keep up with this or if it will be my only post…
